RULESET: DOTA 2

1. DOTA 2 Tournament

1.1. Player Eligibility

All players participating in the UGL DOTA 2 competition must enter their Real Name on Toornament.

The Ubisoft Gaming League DOTA 2 competition website is: http://uglmontreal.wixsite.com/home/s6-b1-dota2.

If you’re looking for a team, you can submit your application here: https://beta.doodle.com/poll/yf7h9ce4ia5u2g2q Remember to check in sometimes and contact other potential players, admins won’t do it for you!

The real name is needed to contact players to organise the matches. If you do not meet these requirements, you will be deemed ineligible.
To participate to this competition, registration must have been accepted before Tuesday October 9th 2018.

The tournament is scheduled to start Tuesday October 9th 2018.

Any player that wasn’t registered before the due date might be refused to participate.

1.2. Team and Player Names

Only registered team members are allowed to play for a team. Playing in any matches with a ringer is prohibited. Players and teams must compete under their officially registered DOTA 2 team names during all official matches.

1.3. Team Size

A Team has to consist of at 5 participants. Referred to as “players” in the following.

Note: The administration highly recommends a lineup of 6 players including a substitute player. The substitute player must be registered on Toornament at the same time as the full team roster.  Teams are only allowed to play with players on their roster with a registered game account. All roster changes must be made prior to the start of a cup. Playing with different players and/or illegal ringers will result in punishment.

If a team can’t have 5 players on a selected date, they may play their match or decide to forfeit.

1.4. Game version

All players must install the newest version of the game before each game. Please make sure that you have downloaded each new patch before a game starts, to avoid delays with downloading.

1.5. Technical Issues & Quitting

Teams are responsible for their own technical issues (hardware/internet). Matches will not be rescheduled by admins because of technical issues and matches will be played nevertheless.

Make sure to watch out for updates or unexpected downtimes before you play your matches.

The admin team will make sure to get as much visibility as possible but cannot guarantee match time-slots without a maintenance.

In the case of an unexpected downtime, the match can be re-scheduled with the approval of the UGL DOTA 2 Admin team.

If a player gets kicked out due to inactivity or internet connection issue, the game goes on (kicked out player have a chance to rejoin a match during a limited time).

1.6. Disqualification

To keep tournaments as efficient and fair play as possible, the UGL admin team reserves the right to disqualify teams. This will only be done in cases where a team purposefully stalls or attempts to block another team. In some scenarios both teams may be affected. Any team found to be cheating or using a known exploit will forfeit their game upon the first occurrence of the exploit. If the team is found to use another known exploit for a second time and it is determined to have been done on purpose they will be removed from the event and barred from any future events. Betting during any UGL event (by a player, team, or on behalf of anyone associated with the team) is forbidden. Those partaking will be disqualified from the event in question.

1.7 Communication

The primary communication platform is Skype. At least one member of each team has to be available as much as possible.
We do suggest setting yourself to ‘Do Not Disturb’ during matches.

1.8 Admins

All participants must adhere to the decisions and rules of the tournament organizers, admins, and referees (UGL-S6-DOTA2-Admins@ubisoft.com). All decisions are final, except in cases where the option to appeal is clearly stated. Conversations, either verbal or written, between organizers, admins, or referees, and participants are confidential. Publicly posting or sharing these conversations with outside parties is strictly forbidden, unless permission is obtained.

All rules are subject to change with a notification sent to all captains by email.

2. DOTA 2 Cup Rules

2.1 DOTA 2 Tournament Format

2.1.1 Pool Phase

The first phase of the tournament is a Round Robin Pool Phase that takes place during the course of 3 weeks. Teams will be divided into pools of 4 teams. Seeding will be done manually separating the “pick-up groups” between the pools.

Teams will face the other teams of their pool at the rate of 1 match-up per week.

Winner is determined through a single match.

Point distribution:
•    2 pts: victory
•    1 pts: draw
•    0 pts: defeat

2.1.2 Bracket Phase

The second phase of the tournament is a Double Elimination Bracket Phase that takes place of the course of 4 weeks and a Finals Night.
The Teams will be seeded according to the results of the pool phase with the winning teams of one pool against the losing teams of the other and so on.
Teams will face the other team of their bracket at the rate of 1 match-up per week.
Winner is determined through a single match.
Winning teams move on to the next match.
Losing teams move once down to the loser’s bracket. Losing a second time eliminates the team.

2.1.3 Finals Night

The last match-up will occur on the Finals Night as a Best of 3 match.

2.1.4 Organising

Once the competition starts, teams will have 1 match / week.

Captains of each team have the responsibility to organise their teams to be available during lunch hours.

Each week, the DOTA 2 Admins will send out the schedule of matches for the week.

Captains have the responsibility to contact their opposing team’s captain and organise their match during lunch hours.  If a match is not possible during the week, the team with the most availability will win by forfeit.

Each match must start at noon to make sure there is enough time to play the games.

All matches should take place outside the work hours. If lunch hours are not possible, out of office hours are possible if the times have been communicated with the admins.

Each week, we will send a schedule of the matches for all the players. This Schedule is the official schedule.

Failure to show up for an official / or an agreed-upon scheduled match (after 15 min) will result in a warning and an automatic loss ("no-show").

It is the responsibility of the attending team to send an e-mail to the admin and the opponent (in cc) in order to explain the situation.
After 3 no-shows, a team will be disqualified from the competition.

If a player is present to the match and his opponent does not show up after 15 min, it is his responsibility to send an e-mail to the admin and the opponent explaining the situation.

All Matches must be played and all results must be sent to admins by the Next Monday, at 2 PM.

If both teams haven’t sent any results or haven’t played their match by that time, the match will be considered a draw.

Forfeits and withdrawals unrelated to no-shows may be declared at any time.

2.2 During a Game

2.2.1 Lobby Settings

•    Game mode: Captain's Mode (CM)
•    Sides: (Radiant / Dire) will be determined by coin toss.
•    First Ban: Dire team.
•    Victory condition: The first team to destroy the other team’s ancient.
•    Server: closest available
•    Spectators OFF

The hero pool always consists of all heroes the game mode allows and might therefore change several times during the competition. The game must not be paused during the draft, unless a drafter disconnects.

2.2.3 Pauses

Each team has the right to pause the game for an acceptable duration, if a player announces it at least three seconds in advance and calls a coherent reason (exception: not necessary, if someone disconnects). The game must not be resumed before both teams agree with it. When the number or the duration of breaks becomes too high or long, the administration may force the continuation of the game.

2.2.4 Disconnects & Reconnects

If a player disconnects, the game is to be paused instantly. Everyone has up to ten minutes to reconnect to the game (if the same person disconnects more than once, all times get added up). If this time is passed, the opposing team may continue the game, unless an admin demands the opposite. The affected player is in this case still allowed to rejoin later on.

2.2.5 Broadcasting

As stated in the Lobby Settings, spectating is OFF to minimize the chance of cheating during the weekly matches.

But there is a possibility that UGL team will be streaming matches from the tournament. By default, by participating in the UGL competition means accepting that your match, player name and team name will be visible online. If you do not want to be streamed & visible online, you need to specify this in writing by email to the admin team at this email address UGL-S6-DOTA2-Admins@ubisoft.com.

If your matches are streamed, it will be on Twitch (http://www.twitch.tv/ubisoftgamingleague) and the VOD will be posted on the UGL YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCx4Ajm5_vcUQclr0EWMIunQ) and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/ubigamingleague) channels. By participating to this competition, you agree by default with your game being broadcasted and your team name & player name appearing online.

In the event the matches are broadcasted, the following settings are updated:

Spectator ON
A 2-minute delay will be added to the broadcast.

Only the UGL DOTA 2 Admins and the dedicated Caster selected by the Admins are authorized to spectate a match.

2.2.6 Bugs

If any serious bugs occur, the game has to be paused immediately and the administration decides how to continue. Knowingly abusing a bug is strictly forbidden.
If you think your opponent is cheating, send a mail to the admin team and if you can, record a video or take a screenshot. The admin team will review the concerns within 5 max. working days and take appropriate actions if required (e.g. Admin as spectator during the next game or physically behind the player during a match or even kicking a player if the cheating is proven).

2.2.7 Tools / Hacks

The usage of any DOTA2-related tool aside from Steam and DOTA 2 during a match is strictly forbidden. Any sign of cheating may result in a Forfeit of the Game and disqualification from the Event.

2.2.8 Ending

A game is finished, when an Ancient Fortress is destroyed, when the majority of a team leaves on purpose, or when the administration decides on it. (note: A game is not forfeited, when a player types "gg" or "ff". Always wait for the ancient to be destroyed!)

2.3 Results

Upon completion of a match, it is the responsibility of the winning team to send a mail to UGL-S6-DOTA2-Admins@ubisoft.com with the Captain of the other team in the thread.

This mail should contain: the name of the winning team, the final score and the screenshots of the results.
Saving the results' screenshots is recommended. In case of a confusion, those screenshots might be asked by the admin team.

2.4. Forfeit

Participants can choose to forfeit a match if they wish. Forfeiting will result in loss of the match.

2.5. Protests

If you’d like to report a mistake or error, your team has 1 week after the match date to send an email to the admin team (UGL-S6-DOTA2-Admins@ubisoft.com). Protests must include media evidence clearly showing the results of the match/series where applicable. Teams are responsible for providing proof of match results in case of disputes.
